We made another overnight trip to Seattle with our neighbors. The plan was to drop Judi off at the studio and spend the afternoon shopping with the kids then check into the hotel, watch the sunset, then downtown to see the windows and Christmas lights and have a little dinner.
After dropping off Judi at the studio, the kids and I headed to IKEA. I use to love that place, at least the one in Canada. This trip made me change my mind about the store. I put Reece and Andrew in the "Just for Kids" section to play while Fredy and I did some quick shopping. As I sopped in the dishes section Fredy feel asleep in the chart. I found what I needed and picked up the kids and then headed to the check out. I spent more time waiting in line than shopping in the store. First off, they had only 2 checkout lines open and then a handful of self checks. I wasn't about to do self check out with 3 kids and a whole chart full of glass dishes. The lady in front of me had a large chart full of things. She started to argue with the checkout lady about a price and then had to get the manager over and then call an employee who worked in the department and on and on. I moved over to the other line that had 5 people to still check out before me. The kids were playing around and behaving, thank God. I got up to the check stand and started wrapping the glass items in paper. I could not find bags. The checker informed me that they do not provide bags any more, so I asked about a box. Nope, not those either. I had to buy a big IKEA bag to put all the glass in. Are you kidding me!!!!!!! Probably the last time I shop there.
After picking up Judi, we checked into the hotel on pier 67. We watched the sunset over the bay, WOW! That evening we went downtown to look Macy's and Nordstrom's windows. Not impressed, not much Christmas stuff. We did ride the carousel at Westlake, which the kids enjoyed.
On Wednesday, we went to Seattle Center to the Children's Museum. This time there was not as many people. The kids were able to run and play. We did run into another girl named Reece and a little boy named Fredy. Both were spelled the same, but Fredy was really a Frederick. After a quick lunch, we headed up the Space Needle. It was really cold but very clear. We could see everything and everywhere. I have never been up there when the sky was so clear.
All in all, the trip was worth it. We got what we needed and did what we wanted to do.
Tip of the day: Make life simpler by hiring a babysitter.
