Country Music?

Ok, I told myself that I would keep this blog neutral in some aspects, thanks Jen. But I can't when it comes to country music and the artists. I am a huge fan for a few reasons. One, I love the music. Two, the artists are down to earth, real Americans and really get what life is all about, unlike other artists i.e. rock and movie stars (here is where I am not neutral). With my children I monitor what we listen to in the car. I have a six changer Cd player and it does have children's music in it, but I promised myself that I would not have 6 children's Cd's in it at one time. So, needless to say, I have one country music Cd in there now. I have the stereo programed to a country music station and with the children in the car that is the station we listen to. No other stations are played when we are in the car because I can't control the songs and lyrics. This is a way for me to filter some of what they hear. I am not able to filter what they hear at the grocery store, mall or other venues, which to say is quite sad. I am ashamed to hear what others say when children are within listening distance. Back to the country music, I believe that most songs are about life and love. Well, I got a big dose of reality the other day when I visited my mother with my daughter. I found out that my daughter really listens to what I play in the car. She asked my mother if tequila made her clothes fall off. What? I work so hard on filtering what she listens to. My mom laughed and after the initial shock, so did I. What can I do? I realized that I would rather her be informed about tequila than gangs, guns and pimps. The moral of the story is listen to only children's Cd's in the car unless you own a Barry Manilow one (which I do and she loves it).

  3. Just a thought...but I think you should try using itunes. You could load a bunch of your favorite cd's onto your computer into i-tunes & even download a new song or two then make your own cd's. this way you could still have a great mix in your cd changer & you could "filter" the music before you even put it on the CD. This way maybe you can get a little variety :)
