We surprised our children and took them to Bakersfield last week to visit family. July is not the time of year to leave Bellingham or go to Bakersfield, but the weather in Bakersfield was fantastic! We enjoyed swimming, family, eating way too much and of course drinking. It was great to see family again even if we just were there in June.

We enjoyed our time there and were sad to leave. Coming home is always hard for the whole family but this trip was really hard. Reece cried a lot this time about leaving. We came home to a celebration of life for our dear friend Jim, our neighbor in the hospital who had a heart attack, Reece's friend moving to Maine and we are not sure when we will see family from Bakersfield. All in all, it would be much easier if our family lived here, hint, hint!
